Basic problem flashing

Postby kiyoshi7 » Sun Jan 27, 2019 4:10 pm

Hi, I just started getting into STM32 MCUs and downloaded and installed Truestudio, STM32CubeMX and STM32 ST-LINK Utility. My promble is that when I run the externa tool, to try to flash the mcu I get this error:

STM32 ST-LINK CLI v3.3.0.0
STM32 ST-LINK Command Line Interface

ST-LINK SN: 48FF70066770545634222067
ST-LINK Firmware version: V2J31S7 (Need Update)
Connected via SWD.
SWD Frequency = 4000K.
Target voltage = 3.3 V
Connection mode: Connect Under Reset
Reset mode: Hardware reset
Debug in Low Power mode enabled
Device ID: 0x410
Device flash Size: 128 Kbytes
Device family: STM32F10xx Medium-density

Unable to open file!

how can I flash the mcu? I'm just trying to get a simple HID example from here https://notes.iopush.net/stm32-custom-u ... -by-step-2 .I've followed this pdf from Atollic http://info.atollic.com/hubfs/AppNotes/ ... t-tool.pdf to try to get the st-link to work.

I'm struggling with the same problem. Did you solve it?

I would suggest to use Windows utility first to confirm setup before using command line utility.
If you are using the STLink utility, make sure you set the Mode as 'Connect under Reset' in the Target -> Settings menu.

Also, you will need to have 50k pull up resistor on SWDIO and 50k pull down on SWCLK pins. (I have used 47k standard through hole)

I am able to program/debug nicely with these settings.
Additionally, connect the BOOT0 pin to GND for F0 devices, check BOOTx pin settings for other devices.
