How to load symbols/build variables from external file?

Postby abaldur » Fri Jul 13, 2018 2:30 pm

Hi everyone,

Do you know if it is possible to load symbols/build variables (that are used in the build process) from an external file?

Ideally I would like to have a setup where a file is read whenever I hit the "build" button which will then configure the build settings just before the actual build process is started.

The reason is that I have some external applications that also uses the content of the file for its configuration and I would like to avoid specifying variables multiple places.

Thanks,

Best Regards,

I suggest that this can be solved by a script run on the pre-builder stage.

Sounds like a pre-build step.

If your project is CDT managed then you would need to modify the .cproject and/or the .project file. Not sure Eclipse will be super happy about it. Do it at your own risk.

If your project instead is a makefile project then scripting this should be a lot easier since your build step only would have to modify the makefile(s).
