Failure at line 13

Postby greenwoodg » Wed May 16, 2018 6:09 am

I just tried changing the Min Stack and heap in the linker script and it caused the debugger load to fail with the message:
Failure at line: 13 in 'Target Software Startup Scripts'. Please edit the debug configuration settings. Error writing data to flash.

I cannot see what to change that may be related to the stack and heap settings in the linker script. After changing the linker script back to what was working, I still get the error and now Atollic is completely useless as a debug tool. Stlink programs the board without error.

I also tried deleting the debug configuration and making a new connection. No Joy!

Anyone got a quick fix for this before I toss the IDE?

Well here I am answering my own post again!
I was not able to find any reason for the failure other than looking in the .log file where it stated that the debugger could not write to memory at 0x92xxxxx (x's are actual values that I do not recall at the moment). I have no idea why it was trying to write there. I deleted the entire project and replaced it by the archive and the issue is fixed. Have no idea why it is fixed.

It is happening again. Moving to a new workspace does not fix it.
How is this fixed?

for those who see this Error, here is the solution (at least for me):

Down grade to version 9.0.0.

I also got this problem. I downgrade to version 9.0.0 and that didn't work. I think atollic software engineer should read about post to solve this.

I just tried it and I can't replicate this.
What board and version are you using?
What values do you set the min stack and heap to when the first error is received?

I have solved this problem. Just remove code contain 'return' code in main before while(){} funtion. I don't know why that can happen make debug didn't work. Maybe my that funtion take too much RAM to excute.

I have been randomly getting this since upgrading to 9.1.
I am finding a flash erase using ST link makes it work for that one cycle.
Then any change in your code without externally erasing the flash and sometimes you get this error, other times it seems to go through but the flash has not been updated.

Add my name to the list - is not working in 9.1.0
Just trying to run a basic Nucleo 401 example (exactly as in the webinar at https://blog.atollic.com/webinar-stm32c ... truestudio) and all is well until the load via ST-Link - In my case it is line 6 of the 'Target Software Startup Scripts' with the single word 'load'

Drivers aren't the problem IMO - the board msc and cdc show up fine on my computer (Win7 Pro)
