Build using PC Tools on Ubuntu

Postby dabo » Fri Dec 07, 2018 1:12 pm

Hello,

In our project we have setup one configuration using the Atollic ARM Tools and one using the Atollic PC Tools. Both build successfully on Windows 10 x64. Now we want to build the project on our Jenkins build server running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Unfortunately the configuration using the PC Tools doesn't build on Ubuntu. Is this not meant to work or what could we be doing wrong? I expected the PC Tools to build Windows executables using mingw no matter if we build on Windows or Ubuntu but for example there seems to be a lot of include files missing from the PC Tools installed on Ubuntu compared to Windows.

Appreciate any help
Daniel

Not sure what you mean by ARM tools or PC Tools.

I am running TrueSTUDIO on a PC running Ubuntu 18.04.1. It's a cross toolchain set up for STM32 (ARM) development...

Is this what you are using?

We use the ARM Tools for the target (STM32) but we also build a version that can execute on Windows for some testing and that uses the PC Tools outputting an exe-file. The problem we have is that when we install TrueSTUDIO on Ubuntu the PC Tools that come with that is missing files compared with the PC Tools installed with the Windows version of TrueSTUDIO. And the missing files cause build failures with our Jenkins build server running Ubuntu.

I see. Well, I have not tried migrating from Atollic on Windows to Atollic on Ubuntu, sorry.

But if I am not mistaken there are some add-ons for the Ubuntu version that could expand its capabilities for you.

There is an option in Window -> Preferences -> Install/Update -> Linux Tools (to add this site), then go to Help -> Install New Software to see if there are any add-ons that might be useful. Note that you have to wait for a minute or so until all the available items are loaded. But there might be something there that you can use.

Sorry I can’t be of more help. Good luck!

By the way, on my Ubuntu 18.04 machine, I went to my installation directory:

/opt/Atollic_TrueSTUDIO_for_STM32_x86_64_9.2.0

and found sub-directories there for the ARM Tools and PC Tools that you mentioned.

Is it possible the PC tools you are looking for are installed and accessible on the Ubuntu system in that sub-directory?

Cheers
