Remove support of Atollic TrueSTUDIO STM32 (TrueSTUDIO) toolchain

I curious what users in this forum think about the recent move by STM to remove support for Truestudio project examples in firmware packages.

STM32CubeMX still generates projects.
Should i be expecting them to end support here also?

That is probably just a response to Atollic's conversion package, they probably did not like that.

Why would ST want to remove support for Truestudio when 80% of people with Truestudio use ST parts.

NXP, ST have the market to themselves in ARM world, and NXP has their own free tool that is well implemented and supported.

If they were about to charge for their AC6, then maybe this would make sense.

The best would be if ST would just buy Atollic and offer pro package to everybody for free or a reduced price, on condition that they use ST parts.

This would streamline things and increase the community.

Hi Lawrence,

Look here:

The timing of your guess is ... impressive!
Maybe now you can have your own wikipedia page just like Paul the Octopus ;)

That is funny,

I believe this is good news for everybody.

Its funny that you mention Paul the octopus, because the octopus is my favorite animal, I would love to have a really big one as a pet.

So ... I'm a bit confused... Release Notes for f/w date December 2018, one year later than these posts, still say "Removed support of Atollic TrueSTUDIO toolchain." I checked a few and they said the same. Can this be correct?
